If you can catch one, look at its face. A moth has a VERY obvious coiled proboscis (mouth tube) under its face, a caddisfly does not. Also, when you let it go a moth will leave a bunch of duty scales in your hand, a caddis has hairs instead of scales and won't leave a smudge.
Both the folks at Blue Ribbon and Dan Delects are great resources for local hatches. Believe 'em.
