Hi Charlie, good to hear from you my friend.
I am glad you joined this thread because I trust your and Dan’s observation on EC413 failures. However most fly fishermen are like me, never fish the extreme conditions that many of you have available, so I still believe that the old original EC413 still serves a good purpose for the average guy. Since the EC413 has been widely copied by other manufacturers, I would have thought that Wright McGill would have paid more attention.

I know that extreme conditions will cause hook failure, but you may recall early tests that I made between EC413 and Targus 60 degree bend hooks:
“The only difference in test results was a #4 EC413 opened before a # 4 Targus and a Targus 1/0 hook broke..”

Good to hear from you – I have survived my health issues and still having fun fishing our ponds - old bones can’t handle big water anymore.
