JJ, I think it may be difficult to answer your question about quality of recent manufacture class since the EC413 jig hooks have been around so long, many older inventories continue available. One batch I bought recently was much sharper than old stock.

I know that Dan and Lee H. prefer Targus 60 degree bend jig hooks, but not having the experience of big salt water species they refer to, I have not any problems with the EC 413 jig hooks after some 30 years of usage.
I first began using of EC413 jig hooks on lead head jigs in the early 80’s before transitioning to fly usage in the 90’s.

I do recall one batch several years ago that “opened up” but was strictly a quality control issue. The box of 100 EC413s #2/0 were promptly replaced.

Good luck on your choice – there are several good jig hooks choices available.
