Stuart, No need to troll for Salmon with a fly rod. If your casting is pretty good you can toss a pink over white flahsy clouser (from 2 to 3 inches in length) with your LC shooting head and silvers will eat it eagerly. Just get it out as far as you can, preferably near rolling fish, of which there should be plenty if you are in a good area. Strip in fast and then hold on. You will have plenty of success. LC head with running line of your choice, 10 to 20 pound straight 9 foot leader. Cohos are a great fly rod fish while in the salt. And BTW, if you do troll, introduce a swivel somewhere into the leader or your fly line will tangle. Good luck! Dave
