Hey Dennis! For now it's our second/weekend holiday retreat. My wife retires in 4 years so it's going to be a process. The warranties on the house are very attractive as is the significant insurance savings because of the the height and wind factors. I'm hoping never to test the 180 mph wind guarantee. The island does flood, however, it has been a rare occasion. We have been renting a friends house down the street for vacations the past 3 years and like the neighborhood. It's also walking distance to the Square Grouper our favorite restaurant. There are only two builders operating down there. I'm not sure if they were built by the same builder. We did not consider the corner house even though it has more property because I do not want to live at the end of a canal. We are shopping boat lifts now, a big expensive upgrade. I also want to wall off a storage area underneath eventually so we both will continue working on the mainland for now. The fishing is the best in the keys when it comes to Tarpon and especially Permit (I still have Permit on my bucket list). Every body sees them but me. I'm like the Rodney Dangerfield of Permit fisherman, no respect! So yes I am thrilled, excited and looking forward to really learning the fishery down there. Oh yeah one more thing, I can reach the Marquesas in a jiffy on a calm day. THAT'S a biggie!
