|Well I do not do the dredging thing, as I don't regard it as "fly fishing", and I'm not interested in fish with swim bladders, since the Tag and Release results on such things|
is under 10% which isn't within what I call reasonable.
I mostly fish for pelagics which don't have swim bladders
and and I do it mostly off ocean rocks, or did.
But my advice for that depth and those species, is to use a phosphorescent chartruse fly, as big as you can hang on the leader. The light at those depths 100/200 feet, is less than 1% of the surface light, more like 0.05% which means the fish will not be seeing much at all.
Each to his own I guess, I just like fooling with technology
like things that make changes to old stuff that is older than the Pyramids. Like DD reels. The geared things are available on the tackle market, and are cheap, like $30.
