I respectfully disagree... 99.9% of bonefishing at CI is on foot, so a super fast retrieve for bones is just not that crucial. I have caught many bonefish over 8 lbs. on a 5 weight with a 3 inch diameter reel, and never had a problem, although a 3.5 inch reel is a bit less cramp inducing. When fishing from a boat deck and trying to run up on fish it is much more of an issue.

A 3.5 inch Orvis Midarbor is a great reel, very inexpensive, and very light weight. I also like Ross Evolutions for bonefish, but they are much more finicky about sand and grit so not my first choice for CI.
