#5 is so important and maybe the toughest for many to execute. You have to keep the fly in the water. There have been numerous times when the tarpon will whiff the fly and make a 360 to find it again. Letting the line slide through your hand as the cast is made is a good idea. If the cast is going long it can be slowed or stopped. The other benefit is being able to control the amount of slack line on the water that has to be stripped in before the fly moves.
