These days you don't have to use GsP or ANY other braided line
Platypus make Lo Stetch mono, 9% total stretch and it handles those mono knots like Biminis.
But you need to look after your backing, NOTHING is forever,
even GsP, which is 100% water proof, but suffers from sand grit if you fiddle with beaches.
Get a line removal tool, take the backing off after every fishing trip, see your tackle shop, and let things dry, get the spool clean and put it back on.
I thought that was a normal thing. Must look at mine, it was wet 2 years ago??? Or the running line was.
