Some of Andy Mill's information on techniques are at least a few years old, some more so I don't have a problem with the press he gets. He's good for the sport and the Keys guides need more people trying for tarpon. I have always preferred fishing Florida Bay to the ocean side because there, my guide never had to contend with another guide. We fished places where we were hoping to find only a fish or two laid up but they would bite a properly placed fly. The sweet spots are maybe 50-100 feet long, max and could not withstand any kind of pressure. I would never be able to find these spots without GPS. There would be no keys within a half mile, no nearby channel markers, just zero reference points to line up on. I almost fell off the boat laughing when we had just finished a favorite spot and a guide skiff was running about 100 yards away. My guide dropped his pants and stooped over the trim tab feigning you know what so the people in that skiff would think we had made a potty stop. It was an imaginative way to protect his fishing spot.
