I made my first run of the season in Boca Grande yesterday. I really didn't expect to see much because by past experience it's still early for us. I found fish crawling about on top in an area they have been previously. Scum sky hampered visibility but each window of light I was seeing fish.
Now I have a new concern about the welfare of tarpon. I think there is reason to believe our fish are in danger of starvation. Two high riding slow moving tarpon totally missed perfectly place flies. One came out of water past her pecs.
On a serious note on April 17 I will attend the FWC meeting considering the proposed law making tarpon and bones catch and release status.
Cross your fingers this passes.
