I just read the responses and appreciate Dan's comments. Carp are definitely a challenge and require a bit of dedication to have some consistency.. They are everywhere but In many parts of the US they are a seasonal teaget and only available in skinny water through the warmer months. A summer time "dog days of summer" diversion so to speak. With that, I don't think they will ever receive the attention that the resident sport fishing species will.
There is however a growing population of dedicated fly fishers that fly fish for only carp. These guys are skilled angers/fly tiers and have really pushed the needle state side in there popularity.
It so happens that I can sight fish for them year round so I get a lot of shots on fish close to home. They won't replace the other fishing I do, they just add to the fun!
