Reality time. The vast majority of salmon farming takes place in Norway, Chile, Finland, Scotland, Canada, and the Faroe Islands. The United States does not and should not attempt to dictate the conduct of free enterprise in these countries [unless you are a rabid right winger].
In the U.S., where we can set policy, would you rather remove a dam blocking a historically important salmon river or shut down a (U.S.) salmon farm? Really.
According to your theory California fisheries for striped bass, yellowtail, sea bass and such should be doing great since there are no commercial fish farms for these species. How are fish populations in the Delta? Are there any fish farms to blame there? How about pollution, water loss to irrigation?
Don't let a single media presentation determine your perceptions and your priorities.
