It would be nice to know just what the rod was; how many pieces for example.

What was most impressive to me, was where the rod broke; pretty much right at the handle, I didn't notice whether that rod had a forward fighting grip or not.

But that's a lot of lift for a rod in that configuration. A problem with that particular lift, doing it by hand, is that in that 180 degree bend configuration the whole thing is unstable.

The tip wants to swing around the butt in a circle, and it is hard to control.

It would be interesting to see what that same rod would lift, if the handle were pointing up at say 60 degrees, rather than 90 degrees. It would be stable like that, and that would be a configuration I often see, when lifting a fish from straight down under the boat. Hopefully it still would fail at the handle or forward fighting grip; but at what pull.

In any case it looks good to me. Very nice
