All that's true Phil - you're preaching to the choir here. Shooting heads were invented here on the West Coast and I've been writing about them for more than four decades. That said, I still have use for both types of shooting line. I prefer the intermediate coated shooting line over a floater because it's smaller in diameter and provides much of what you mentioned about mono - at least when you compare both types of coated shooting lines.
