In addition to increased distance as an advantage of mono running line I would add decreased wind resistance in flight, decreased water resistance, increased reel spool capacity, decreased weight, quicker head changes - I can cut mono and tie a clinch knot to a loop faster than I can undo and then redo a loop to loop connection - and lower cost.
Yes, mono is more slippery, it may blow around more on a deck, and it does tangle more, especially if you don't soak it before you use it. |
