In addition to the sea run cutthroat, it's a pink salmon year this year, so there will be millions of them available off the Puget Sound beaches in the summer. Coho forecasts are looking positive too.

The Yakima canyon is scenic, but the river itself is basically a glorified irrigation canal for much of its length, especially in the summer when they keep the flows high for agriculture. I like to think of it as slummin' for ditch trout. There are MUCH better fisheries available in the state, they're just not as hyped. If you do fish the Yak, I suggest floating the upper river around Cle Elum where it's still a real river and you have a better shot of catching a few native westslope cutthroat instead of just the cookie cutter rainbows. The canyon section gets totally overrun in the summer with drunken college students floating in inner tubes with coolers of beer too.
