My experiences say the wind plays a more important role than the tides.
I had my own boat on the Marls for a couple years and the depth at the boat ramp was far more dependedt on wind direction. In fact, it was a great lesson on how wind can push water. East wind pushed water out...west wind pushed water in. This was on the inner Marls.
A really fun time is when the bones flood out of the mangroves on a dropping tide...you can hear them popping snails along the edge then out they come...great fun. I'd want a afternoon droping tide.
