Perhaps it was the luck of the draw, but my 19 dollar Berkeley digital scale has been twice certified by IGFA-and each time was dead on accurate at all the weights tested. I was present for both sets of tests, and talked with Jack Vitek who does much of their testing, and also handles world record applications.He told me that Bogas are invariably accurate, and many of the cheapo digitals do have a high failure rate. You can do some of your own unofficial certification at home, of course, and .unless you're planning on world record pursuits it hardly warrants the fee to certify a scale, if it can weigh your sugar at home accurately...correctly..
