First of all, thats an awesome looking fly no matter how long it took! I'll take a bakers dozen! :-) My first thought wehn I see that set up is I see a potentially terrible hinge point. I dont know if this is true, just a guess. I can picture the hook doubling back and hanging on that extension at the tippet knot...
