To further what Kirk said, even targeting big fish, wind doesn't have to take you out of the game if you're flexible as to where you fish. My time's pretty limited so I fish when I can get out. There are some areas I launch out of that give me access to different bay systems so that regardless of wind direction, I can have a relatively protected run and usually find some clean water on the edges of the major bays where the big girls roam. If not, I can tuck into the interior ponds for somewhat smaller, but still fun fish, like Kirk mentioned. This winter has been real windy, weekend before last was the first trip I've had since September where I wasn't fighting a LOT of wind, but I've managed to do pretty well in terms of fish caught this winter.
