Adam,
You know, I've never fished the worm hatch. We always fished from about 6:30 a.m till 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. - 8 hrs. I was too beat by then to go fishing with another guide after dinner. I've never been fond of the two-hand retrieve and never use it if I don't have to.
Michael is right, of course; as Lefty always said "Flies don't attack fish..." Never retrieve a fly toward the tarpon if you can avoid it; although I have gotten away with it occasionally when water was pouring off a bank and the poons had their noses up against it waiting for baitfish coming off with the tidal flow. It has to look natural...
Oh, with daisy-chaining fish Captain Ray always had me "bull's eye" the chain - casting fly and leader only, dead center in the middle of it (not to the on-coming edge as is often recommended). He felt that if the fly is coming through the middle it will be right for a lot more fish. It worked almost all the time if the fish would eat at all.
