I have been tying the Hawg-Tied bass bug with the following components:
Hook: Gamakatsu worm hook #49112 in 2/0 - I put a slight bend in the middle of the shank Rubber trailer: I use #32 rubber bands - about 1/8" wide and kind of fat. I cut the tie-in end on an angle and double over the trailing end about 1/2" and glue in place with Zap-A-Gap. Be sure that the ruber has a natural arc down when you turn the fly point up. Balance of fly: Just some Silli legs, Crystal Flash, and a deer hair body. Solid prismatic or bead doll eyes. [click here to display pictures] |
