You may have received the wrong hook. They had two styles of jig hook produced for them by Targus, one with a lighter wire. The #5444 is the correct hook. I just received 6 packs of the #6 hook. Being smaller in size the #6 probably has smaller diameter wire than say a size 2 or 2/0. The size 6 I have look plenty strong to me.
