In defense of the #4 EC413 - the smaller hook bend radius and relatively larger wire stock makes it less likely to fail than the larger sizes, and 100 of them cost just $10.20.
I'm still disappointed that out-of-the-box sharpness rather than the grade of steel is touted by hook vendors. Reminds me of Ginsu knives, which never require sharpening before you throw them away.
