80 shock tippet-does it matter what you use?

For big fish like giant trevally where you need a heavy shock tippet-not necessarily toothy fish-does it matter what 80# you use? It seems like fluoro straightens a lot easier than hard mono and is easier to seat knots with vs hard mono. Just wondering if there were any tips on mono vs fluoro. It seems like if there is any weak spot in your setup a GT will find it.
