| I just got my 11 wt. XI3 - took it out to the pond just an hour ago and cast the new Rio 11 Technical Tarpon line - The rod and line match very well. For close shots under 30 feet, I had to "tip cast" it. The head is 60 feet long on the Tech tarpon line and it really flies. Before casting the rod, I though I might have to go up to a 12 line, but after casting the rod with a tarpon fly and leader, I am staying with the Tech. tarpon in the 11 wt for this XI3 11wt sage rod. I think Rio has got the lines dialed in pretty well on these faster action rods. I had a few trout hit the big fly, but I cut the hook off, to save them the trouble. I just finished my fly box for this summer, one of these is going to work !! [click here to display pictures] |
