Dave,

I just took a look at one of my fish I.D. books I had forgotten I had - Sport Fish of the Pacific by Vic Dunaway.
On page 41 the picture and description is an Almaco jack - exactly line the one you are holding and like those I've caught.

I still can't find a photo that looks like the one Doug is holding, with the closest being the Peruvian jack.
