Andy Mill caught a 84.5 pound tarpon on an Xi3 9 wt. I have been thinking of getting a new tarpon rod and a lot of people have told me the 11 Xi3 is the "new 12" and it is much better to cast than a 12. The one big disadvantage of lower line weights is they do not penetrate the wind like a heavy rod.
