Serge,

I have the XI3 8 and 9 and have fished the 10wt for a couple of days. It is a serious stick. It is super powerful and not a rod that I wanted to cast all day prospecting for stripers. I chose the 9wt for that task.

I was casting a 12wt Rio OBS floater on the rod and it was close to perfect for the larger top water flies I was throwing.

For Tarpon, I would think a minimum of one and perhaps two line weights up would work well.
