Well I have never heard Nikon say much of anything about where they "position" their cameras.

The camera mags, certainly do say that the 3,000, 3100,3200 are entry level cameras.

Magazine reviewers have stated that the 7,000 is a "semi-pro" camera, since it has a cast magnesium frame body just like their flagship D4 etc cameras. I have no idea what a semi-pro is; does one get semi-paid for one's photos ?

I don't sell my pictures, so I have to go with what I can (barely) afford.

I used to shoot 4 x 5 Ektachrome slides on my view camera, years ago; but the whole getup was decidedly awkward, even though the pictures were astonishing.

So I'm sticking with the DX, and have no plans to go smaller.

Have no quarrels with Canon afficianados either; I just can't afford them.
