In this case I think you might be mistaken. For example, the regular (not fishing-specific) Allegianz travel insurance policies cover "interrupted itinerary" when "the charter operator or tour guide cancels or suspends the service for more than 24 hours". In our case the guide said he couldn't ethically and wouldn't take our money for the following four days because of the weather. I think a good lawyer could run a mile with that one.
Clearly one has to shop carefully re: what a policy will cover and for what reasons. I am much more upset about the extra and wasted money on RE-BOOKING fees with the airline and NON-REFUNDABLE fees with the rental car...just to get home early...than I am with the cost of getting there and back....minus the un-spent guide fees.
The increasingly hostile travel climate, airlines and rental cars, is hlaf the message here.
There ARE, these days, fishing and other sport specific trip insurance policies...since there is a demand.....and one can pick and choose which, or how much, of one's investment one wants to cover...and for what cancellation reasons.
