| Bill-show me the insurance policy that covers muddy water short of a hurricane or tsunami-or other "disaster"(as defined by the policy), or that refunds your trip expenses merely for poor fishing conditions like Peter encountered, and I will put the certificate on my wall next to the one for the bridge I bought in Brooklyn before I left New York in 1978.From what I have read, most "cancel for any reason" options in travel insurance policies require cancellation at least 2 days in advance of the trip, and carry extraordinarily high additional premiums-and many only reimburse 75% of the incurred cancellation/change fees. It's probably worth carefully calculating the cost/potential benefit scenario before purchasing such insurance..On the other hand, buying a policy with trip cancellation coverage for the policy's named risks(illness, etc)may well be worth the investment-and medical evacuation if you're headed somewhere remote-a la Global Rescue-is probably always a good idea. |
