Peter,

When you're down, you should go over to New Orleans' City Park and adjacent Bayou St. John if you need to relax and stretch out a line. It is a great place to unwind and there is a free to the public sculpture garden to meander through. There are plenty of bass in there and plenty of bream. If they're in the eating mood, you should hook a few from anyplace you find yourself along the bank.
It is only minutes away from where you were staying.
