I recall watching a video of two gear guys blind tossing plugs and jigs into a channel or depression or just a deeper flat in about 12 to 14 feet of water. They were slamming them. I thought at the time that with T-14 and FT Whistlers and FT Clousers and the other flies we use for our CA stripers, I could have slammed those fish. I think they were fishing out of Venice but not totally sure now.

There has to be something like that going on if the wind and water isn't too rough. I always try to have a contingency plan. Sometimes the guides won't go for it though.
