Wonderful report, Doug, and great pictures.I have photographed sunbitterns in Ecuador, Peru and Panama, but never displaying, and perhaps your readers who are unfamiliar with this species, may not understand why this bird has its name and is considered--as you so aptly put it--one of the prettiest birds you'll see.Here's a link to what I once briefly saw, but couldn't photograph, in Ecuador-an avian cousin, if only in gaudiness, to the peacock bass...
