You might look into the Cairns / Townsville / HInchinbrook area in Oz. The fishing would be up in the HInchinbrook Passage or on one of the outer barrier islands. The Cairns / Townsville / Port Douglas area provides the non-fishing lifestyle with visits to the Aboriginal historical area; rainforest trip in the gondola and a return trip down the escarpment by narrow gauge rail; snorkling or diving on the Great Barrier Reef; and plenty of nice hotels and restuarants. You could also check out Frasier Island or some of the other Great Barrier Reef islands. Check with the locals before walking / wading some of the beaches. Salt water crocs inhabit that area and are known to take a person or two annually (usually local kids playing in off color water but it would put a crimp in your anniversary to be nibbled by a croc along the way). |
