Jonny, I went down into the hunting and fishing command center and actually opened the packages to compare. (I have not tied with either much and have just used the material for dubbed heads around lead eyes on big articulated leeches). Anyway, yes, the Senyo lazer dub is much longer fibers than the ice dub. Are you tying this in for the body with your V technique or hi-tying? I will tie up a few with lots of weight in chart/white for king salmon. I'll either use lead wraps or maybe try the tungsten weights to have the fly ride hook point up. I mostly tie very sparse clousers for king salmon but it will be fun to see if this fly will work. We catch them in the intertidal zone as they come in from the salt and presumably they are feeding on sand lance so a sparse clouser works well. The chubby baitfish should work for steelhead and silvers too, tied in hot pink and light pink colors. I am almost done with a large box of kinky muddlers getting ready for roosters, dorado and jacks in May in La Paz. I love that fly for those species plus BZE tarpon; weight and no weight and small and big. Keep innovating! :o)
