Where to go end of August?

I have a week off at the end of August, and want to plan a flyfishing trip. I'm torn between going after rainbowtrout in the mountains or choosing a tropical destination for saltwater species. I have been looking into Xmas island, bahamas etc, but im not sure if august is a prime time to go there.
My budget is around 4000$ for the trip. Any recommendations on places to go that have great fishing in August? thanks. Jeremy
