His fly caught many human beings especially Americans.
I can tell you one thing for sure, he never caught permit in his life.
To be fair, he only fished permit very little, he took just one trip to Turneffe and one(or even none) to Mexico, but it indicates that his crab fly isn't magic one and I know the reason why.
He may not know some Americans have been looking for him for years.
I believe he is still fishing but it is totally different kind of fishing.
