|For the last few weeks a few of my buddys and I have been picking up a few early arriving stripers. No, the main run hasn't gotten here yet but it's on its way. With the rivers so low there isn't enough current to bring them up in mass yet so those that are here are tougher to come by. |
This morning I headed out by myself to get in a couple of hours fishing before the wind picked up. Water temp is still around 48 degrees and grabs are soft.
After a few small taps and misses I set the hook on another little tick and it didn't move. Thinking I snagged I gave it a couple more hard tugs and it moved. Then a good head shake confirmed it and ,,,,FISH ON.
I had to use the electric motor to get the boat away from shore and avoid the snags giving me room to fight and net the fish. One handed netting is tough without breaking your rod but she soon came aboard. A quick picture and boga and back in the water she wet.
It won't be long before things are in full swing up here. The Sac still has to clear a lot though.
