|Something doesn't seem right. |
I recently had my F200 serviced at a local Yamaha service/dealer and asked him how many more hours I could expect now that the printout read a shade under 1,000 hours. He smiled and said that he was aware of a set of Yamaha four-stroke engines (LA Harbor Port Police vessel) that had in excess of 8,000 hours on them. He went on to say that the disassembly was supervised by a senior Yamaha engineer that was flown in special from Georgia. Wear was observed but not to the stant that the engines couldn't be reassembled for even more use.
Though it won't make you feel better Dan, it would seem that you should have achieved more life on your engine especially since it is highly unlikely that you drove your engine as hard as they do theirs and because their engines stay IN saltwater virtually all of the time.
