Mike,

I let my engine drain for about 5 minutes when I return to my boat slip but then I raise it to prevent electrolysis to the lower unit. Even with the sacrificial anodes, I experienced some electrolysis damage to the lower unit when I left the motor down. However, I think you may be right in that all the water is not draining and this may be a significant contributing factor. Most Yamas last much longer than mine did and I took very good care of it.
