Man has certainly changed the landscape and in most cases not for the better, but fact is, I've been fishing and hunting the delta for over 45 years. It was very rare to see seals beyond Pittsburg. Now they're common into the inland valleys. As usual, when people get involved, the pendulum has swung too far. It's too late not to manage the problem now. We have to be partners with Mother Nature. The natural balance is interrupted. We just have to try and be smart and intervene when neccessary. Open season is not the right answer and total protection is not right either.
