Don't limit yourself to a set tailing material. I have seen a number of variations of the famous Merkin Crab. The orginial pattern called for badger NECK hackle tips.The feather you are looking for is a rounded NECK hackle.Most good stores should have them available. It's the same type of feather that is used on a lot of bass bugs. You can also use pheasant plumage or even mallard flank as long as it has a rounded shape. Hope that helps.
