True, reminds me when that Island flooded in the delta a several years ago and fish of various species were trapped in the receding water. DFG did nothing even though they had someone there monitoring the construction work on the levy that led to the flooding and stranding.
It was anglers and conservationists among the public that mounted a volunteer crew to save the hundreds of fish (including endangered species).
If I remember correctly it was even hard to get DFG to lend some equipment to the effort.
What a joke they have become at protecting our fish and wildlife resources (let alone at actually ENHANCING them).
They are mainly there now to protect the interests of the water barons and to suck down a big pension. They don't have the guts or integrity to fight the big money interests or even to face the public when they announce they are going to devastate the Striped bass fishery so they have the meeting to announce the results (Which has probably been decided already) in San Diego.
We pay the highest or among the highest license fees in the country and for what?
Like I said above DFG = Destruction of Fish and Game.
We should all work to change the structure and mind set currently dominant in the Calif DFG and throw out the people who are responsible for it's current
sad and destructive state.
