From Gingras's post: "Efforts to manage striped bass became controversial in the 1990s with the listing of Chinook salmon and delta smelt under the state and federal Endangered Species Acts and have remained controversial since."
Wrong Marty, the efforts to manage striped bass became controversial when Billionaire central valley growers like Stewart Resnick, the Westlands Water district and the big developers down south discovered they could blame the decimation of California's fisheries on Striped Bass and distract the public away from the much more proven and disastrous effect of diverting huge amounts of water out of the bay delta system, with the willing collaboration of some (many?) DFG biologists and other state officials and personnel.
I like that bit about "while the amount of impact is not certain" What a laugh. He and DFG know its much MORE than "not certain".
Occupy the DFG and the California Dep. of Water Resources!
Or even what's left of our fisheries will be history.
