Delighted that you have figured out a way to do the large hollow headed fly style. You are smarter than I am in that you took something readily available and made good use of it.Additionally installing a rattle inside the head of the fly makes for an amazing amount of noise. The hollow head acts like a resonating chamber amplifying the rattles effectiveness by some exponential amount.
Folks that have not fished the airhead or something like it just don't have a sense of how easily it casts in relation to it's size. The fact that it has a smooth cone as a leading shape makes all the difference in the world.
I think Ken Lindsey down at the Fisherman's Spot had the best demonstration of how aerodynamic it is. As I recall he and his employees used to take airheads out of the package and chuck them across the store. It seemed to open some eyes when the fly traveled across the entire retail sales floor.
Hope your fly efforts catch some great fish for you and thanks for your kind words about the airhead.
