Henry, I will have to check out that material. 18 inches of good hair is hard to come by.
I have only been able to find the Bungee Braid at the Fly Shop in Redding. They only have 2 sizes, large and small. I have tied smaller versions of the "synhead" on the small Bungee Braid. They look fishy too.
I have cast the largest flies on my 8 weight with no problem. They cast great for a large fly, similar to Charlie's Airhead. That is one of the great things about Charlie's fly, they are big and they cast great. They are very aerodynamic.
The large Bungee Braid is a little over 3/4 of an inch in diameter.
I have tried tying the fly with the braid on the outside. I have seen flies tied like that and they are good looking but it does not give the same smooth "lines/silhouette" as having the fibers glued on the outside of the mylar. The Shoe Goo makes this fly tough as nails too. I can squeeze it and condense the head and it pops right back to normal.
