as in 40+ years, Fenwick rods (glass) which were then the absolute top end of what was available outside of bamboo, were being sold at a major retailer store in Boston. One could, and I did, pick up 9-10 weight salt water rods...and their then tarpon and big game 12 wt. models with butt fore-grip, were all sitting in a bin among the clothing and kiddy pools.......for $75 apiece.

It's been done before.......just sayin'
